African Whistle Blowers Anti Corruption Conference (AWACC) 2025

African Whistle Blowers Anti-Corruption Conference 2025 (AWACC)

The African Whistleblowers & Anti-Corruption Conference (AWACC) is a continental platform advancing transparency, accountability, and integrity in governance by empowering and protecting whistleblowers across Africa.

Corruption undermines development, weakens democratic institutions, and erodes public trust in many African nations. Whistleblowers — ordinary citizens who speak up against corruption, fraud, and abuse — are vital to exposing wrongdoing. Yet, too often, they face intimidation, retaliation, and inadequate legal protection.

AWACC was established to change this reality. It provides a safe space for dialogue, knowledge-sharing, advocacy, and coalition-building on whistleblower protection and anti-corruption reform.

Our Mission

To empower whistleblowers, strengthen protection systems, and advance Africa’s anti-corruption agenda through collaboration, research, and action.

Our Vision

An Africa where whistleblowers are recognized, protected, and celebrated as champions of transparency and accountability — and where corruption no longer hinders growth and development.

2025 Theme

“Whistleblower Protection and Integrity Systems: Building Trust for Africa’s Development.”

Purpose of the Conference

The African Whistleblowers & Anti-Corruption Conference (AWACC) was created as more than just an event — it is a continental call to action. At its core, the conference seeks to:

  • Promote whistleblower protection and anti-corruption advocacy by amplifying the voices of truth-tellers and pushing for stronger safeguards that ensure they are protected, respected, and empowered.

  • Provide a platform for policy dialogue, networking, and collaboration, bringing together governments, civil society, journalists, researchers, international partners, and everyday citizens to shape a united response to corruption.

  • Showcase the leadership of the Whistleblowing Advocacy Research Network (WARN) in driving transparency and accountability across Africa, while strengthening partnerships with organizations committed to integrity.

  • Produce a conference communiqué with actionable recommendations that policymakers, institutions, and partners can adopt to advance whistleblower protection and anti-corruption reforms across the continent.

AWACC is not just about conversation — it is about turning dialogue into action, and building a stronger, safer, and more transparent Africa.
