Since its inception, the Whistleblower Anti-Corruption Reporting Network (WARN) has championed bold initiatives that strengthen transparency, empower citizens, and hold institutions accountable. Our projects span across Nigeria’s six geo-political zones, ensuring that the fight against corruption is not only national in scope but also community-driven in impact. Below are some of the major projects executed by WARN:
1. Public Project Monitoring and Reporting
One of WARN’s flagship programs is the systematic monitoring of public projects to ensure that taxpayer funds are spent responsibly and effectively. Across the country, we have deployed citizen monitors to track government-funded projects in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and rural development.
Through this initiative:
Citizens are trained to collect data, take photographs, and document progress on projects in their communities.
Reports are compiled into evidence-based briefs shared with government agencies, the media, and oversight bodies.
Cases of abandoned or substandard projects are escalated to relevant authorities for corrective action.
This has resulted in increased awareness and accountability, with several communities witnessing the completion of long-stalled projects after WARN’s interventions. 2. Advocacy for the Passage of Nigeria’s Whistleblower Protection Bill
Whistleblowers remain one of the most powerful tools in the fight against corruption. However, without adequate legal protection, many potential whistleblowers are silenced by fear of retaliation.
To address this, WARN has been at the forefront of advocacy for the passage and implementation of Nigeria’s Whistleblower Protection Bill. Our efforts include:
Hosting policy dialogues and roundtables with lawmakers, legal experts, and civil society leaders.
Publishing research papers and policy briefs that highlight the benefits of whistleblower protection in strengthening accountability.
Running media campaigns to raise public awareness and build citizen demand for stronger legal frameworks.
Through sustained pressure and collaboration with partners, WARN has contributed to keeping whistleblower protection on the national policy agenda, ensuring that Nigeria moves closer to aligning with international standards of transparency and justice.

True accountability starts with an informed and empowered citizenry. To achieve this, WARN has organized citizen engagement workshops across Nigeria’s six geo-political zones — North-West, North-East, North-Central, South-East, South-West, and South-South.
These workshops serve as platforms for:
Training citizens on how to recognize, report, and resist corruption in their daily lives.
Educating communities on the rights and responsibilities of whistleblowers.
Building networks of integrity champions who collaborate with WARN in promoting transparency at the grassroots level.
Participants include youth groups, women’s associations, traditional leaders, journalists, and civil society organizations. By engaging diverse stakeholders, WARN ensures that the anti-corruption movement is inclusive, nationwide, and sustainable. Many participants have gone on to establish local accountability networks, multiplying the impact of our efforts.
