Olorogun Osiobe Okotie Felicitate With Teachers, Says Nothing to Celebrate In Delta

A party chieftain and leading governorship aspirant of Delta APC
felicitate with Delta State teachers and their counterparts elsewhere in the world and appreciate their unique role in the overall development of the society”

“Government at all level need to change the face of education beginning with basic education through secondary and to tertiary education, with series of capacity building programmes designed to equip our teachers with new teaching methods and equipment for the challenges of the modern world.

Olorogun Okotie Osiobe in a letter made available to whistleblowers to commemorate teachers day said the contributions of teachers in nation building can not be over emphasized but sadly enough they, however, do not have much cause for celebration as they spent most of their time on the streets, carrying placards to demand for better salaries and improvement on their welfare packages especially in Delta state

It is disheartening to note that 80% of Nigerian states owe teachers with some states owing up to nine months salaries and others like Delta paying half salaries and remuneration.

Chief Okotie said it was sadden that Nigeria was yet to emulate developed countries of world, which he said,  has highest budgetary priority on education, as the bedrock of national development.

The Delta APC gubernatorial aspirant who made it clear in a letter made available to whistleblowers noted that the future of the Nigeria teachers depends on the quality of instruction and training provided for them.

He said, “It is very important for government at all levels to improve their budgeting for education. If you look at developed countries, you will find out that their budget for education is always the highest.”

” Though Delta State teachers has suffered the worst form of treatment he encourage them not to relent in thier task of nation building”. He however called on the Delta state government to ensure that teachers salaries and remuneration of teachers are paid as at when due as the current situation where salaries are either not paid or 30% of their take home is deducted only spell doom for our educational prospect in the state and country at large
