The Ovie of Oghara Orefe 111 has condemned in strong terms the actions of Gov Ifeanyi Okowa and gave reasons why they staged a walkout during the visit of the Vice president to Warri few months back.

Orefe 111 also revealed that because of some divisive nature of some persons and factionalisation of the Urhobo apex socio-cultural body, the Urhobo ethnic group has been consistently disrespected, explained that he was excited when they (Urhobo kings) stage a walk from the fact-finding meeting of Vice President Yemi Osinbanjo in January this year.

He noted that while the Urhobo traditional rulers gathered during the visit, they were made to wait for the Vice President from 10am till 5pm, while the Vice President was paying homages to other traditional rulers in the neighboring ethnic nationalities, but as soon as the Vice President finally arrived the meeting, they have to stage a walk out to expressed their displeasure.

“We were made to gather at the venue from 10am to 5pm waiting for Mr. Vice President, while he was visiting two other neighboring nationalities of Urhobo”.

“When Vice President eventually arrived accompanied by the State governor, Urhobo traditional rulers, including myself staged a walk out from the meeting”

Stressing that on notice of their walk out, the State governor, Ifeanyi Okowa came begging them profusely, but their anger was why would any government gathered revered traditional rulers from 10am to 5pm waiting for the eventual commencement of a meeting scheduled for 10am. Noted that Urhobo leaders are not respected, blaming the cause of factionalization and lack of unity among Urhobo people.

Meanwhile, the Oghara monarch was recently honoured with awards of excellence by Urhobo Progress Union, UPU America branch and Oghara sons and daughters in America, the monarch was bestowed with the awards for his contributions to the growth of Urhobo and for his peaceful reign.

The awards took place at different location in Chicago, where they extolled the leadership prowess of the monarch.

Immediately after the convention, Oghara sons and daughters in the United States of America hosted the monarch to an elaborate reception, thanking the monarch for doing Oghara proud.
