MASS DEFECTION HIT PDP AS OKOTIE STORM DELTA NORTH

  • 16 Sept, 2017
  • In the aftermath of Chief Osiobe Okotie massive rally to welcome and drum support for President Muhammadu Buhari immediately he returned from his over sea trip, the Peoples Democratic party, might be on its way to collapsing in Delta north , as more PDP chieftains continue to dump the ruling Party in the state for the All Progressive Congress.

The defectors led by Chief Christopher Ejibike, on Friday, announced their defection to the All Progressive congress in the state in solidarity with Chief Osiobe Okotie, a front line governorship aspirant of the party and 1st deputy president general of Urhobo progress Union.

Chief Osiobe Okotie who prior to now was not an active politician decided to join the race for the Dennis Osadebe house because of the cluelesness and incompetence of the present administration led by Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa who has subjected Deltans to untold hardship and rudderless leadership.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors Chief Christopher Ejibike told Party faithfuls of their readiness to support APC in its quest to wrestle power from the ruling PDP in the state and deliver the dividends of democracy to the electorates come 2019.

‘’We are here to announce our defection and declare our support and readiness towards moving the state forward,’’Chief Christopher Ejibike said on Friday.

While responding, the Governorship aspirant who was accompanied by all the LGA chairmen and secretaries of his senatorial district to the occasion at Obiaruku in Ukwani local government welcomed the Over 300 decampees and their resolve to dump the PDP. He promised to do his best to correct the wrongs of the past in order to enhance development in the state when elected come 2019.

He said the Ndokwa nation has suffered much marginalisation under the present administration and that Deltans will not allow incompetent people to hide under the cloak of ethnicity to gain power through the back door again, he said the APC will provide leadership and ensure that everybody in the state enjoys the dividends of Democracy.

Speaking further he emphasized on the need for Apc to unite as one indivisible entity and express his willingness to associate and work with any APC group as long as it is for the interest of the party. He reiterated that when he becomes governor of the state his administration will work with all relevant persons to chart the most viable alternative towards the enhancement of the welfare of all the people of the state. He said his administration would welcome genuine advice from all stakeholders.

“You know, in politics, there is no permanent friend or permanent enemy but permanent interest. So, it’s not surprising to hear that they chose to defect because they were compelled to do so because of inability of the ruling party to deliver on good governance and provide purposeful leadership to Deltans.

“But I will assure you that the electorates are watching the betrayal of PDP with keen interest. The electorates were brainwashed to mortgaged their rights and political conscience. So, we are not disturbed, perturbed or rattled. APC will definitely continue to wax stronger in the state,” he said.

The LGA Chairman of Ukwani loca government, Mr. David Ochonogor  in his welcome address also thanked the decampees and encourage them to work assiduously in love and unity for the success of the party come 2019 as Ndokwa nation has never had it this bad since the inception of our nascent democracy.

In a similar development whistleblowers gathered that over 3000 of the Modu Sheriff faction of PDP led by Dr. Cairo Ojugbo will today defect to APC in Agbor Delta state to wrestle power from the ruling party led by Dr.Ifeanyi Okowa who incidentally is also from Agbor.

The mass defection from the ruling PDP can be traceable to the corrupt deceptive nature of the present administration and its inability to meet up with the yearnings and aspirations of Deltans, there is a systemic failure in all aspects of governance, despite the huge allocation and internally generated revenue that has accrued to the state since the inception of this administration no meaningful project has been embarked upon couple with the inability of the present administration to pay workers salary for over a year now. Besides this administration is also perceived by Deltans as the most corrupt since the inception of our nascent democracy in Delta State.
